1. Check Your Counterbalance Valve Before Starting Maintenance

The first thing that you want to do is check your counterbalance valve before you start any maintenance. This is a type of pressure valve that controls the speed of the actuator in order to reduce the speed of the cylinder if it tries to get out of hand. This will take the cylinder down to a safe state that can be maintained and will keep the cylinder running without incurring additional pressure costs and repairs. You should always make sure that your counterbalance valve is working before you start maintenance in order to be sure that you are not going to get hurt.
