Molding is one of the more common ways to make custom rubber parts. Even though it has been around for some time, there are still pitfalls involved. Here are some you want to avoid so that your custom rubber parts turn out flawless.

Letting Rubber Compounds Get Contaminated

If you're not careful about how you work with rubber compounds throughout this molding process to make rubber parts, then they can get contaminated. Then they won't have the right characteristics, which could cause all sorts of problems once molds are officially used.

That's why you want to keep contamination from happening as best you can. Make sure you use the appropriate tools when mixing rubber compounds and keep them in a safe place if they're being stored on a temporary basis. If it's not and the temperatures are lower than room temperature, you may have a hard time getting optimal drying results.

The drying time may be abnormally long for the rubber compounds you use or they may remain in a liquid form permanently. You don't want these issues putting speedbumps in your custom rubber part manufacturing process because that's just added costs.
